Ask the expert
What is Morpheus8?
Morpehus8 is a non-invasive skin tightening method created by the Israeli company INMODE Aesthetic Solutions. It combines microneedling with radiofrequency technology — a scientifically proven method for remodeling and restoring collagen.
Radiofrequency energy penetrates the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing tone and firmness. It is used on the face, neck, abdomen, arms, thighs, and buttocks.
It is more effective than microneedling or traditional microneedling therapies and requires minimal downtime for the patient.
How Does It Work?
The aesthetician applies an applicator with fine needles to the skin. These needles create micro-injuries in the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous fat. The device can target all layers or specific areas on the face or body. The specialist adjusts the needle depth (from 0.5 mm to 8 mm) according to the needs.
The tips of the needles heat the tissues to a temperature between 30°C and 60°C (85°F to 140°F). This heat stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of the dermis. Consequently, these micro-injuries lead to skin rejuvenation.
Indications
- Skin laxity, texture.
- Uneven skin tone.
- Acne.
- Fine lines and wrinkles.
- Unwanted fat deposits.
- Stretch marks.
Benefits of Morpheus8
- Non-Surgical Alternative. Micro-needles create virtually invisible micro-injuries and deliver radiofrequency energy to the deeper layers of the skin. This promotes effective facial rejuvenation without surgery, general anesthesia, or visible scars.
- Collagen Stimulation. The key mechanism for rejuvenation is controlled heating of tissues, which stimulates the growth of collagen-producing cells
- Visible Changes After First Session. Skin gains a healthy glow, becomes firmer, contours are lifted, and wrinkles are smoothed out.
- Long-Lasting Results. Improvements can continue for up to 3 months after treatment as new collagen is produced.
- Safe Technology. Suitable for most skin types and tones. The treatment is customized for each patient, including needle depth, energy intensity, and number of sessions. During each session, the aesthetician uses a disposable micro-needle applicator.
Morpheus8 for the Body
Morpheus8 procedures for the face and body differ in several ways due to variations in skin structure and specific needs for each.
- Needle Depth and Quantity. The Morpheus8 applicator for the face features up to 24 micro-needles, which penetrate to a depth of up to 4 mm. This depth is sufficient to reach the facial subcutaneous tissue without damaging the delicate areas. In contrast, the body applicator has up to 40 micro-needles that can penetrate up to 7 mm. This greater depth allows for effective treatment of subcutaneous fat, which is necessary for addressing denser body tissues.
- Functional Differences. Morpheus8 for the face is designed for gentle skin treatment, but it may not have enough power for body treatments. Conversely, Morpheus8 for the body is excellent for tackling cellulite and stretch marks but may be too harsh for facial use.
How long does a Morpheus8 session last?
The duration of one treatment session ranges from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Preparation time is also required (30-40 minutes), which includes cleansing the skin and applying a local anesthetic. After the procedure, additional time is needed for applying moisturizing and soothing creams.
Preparing for the Procedure
Follow these recommendations to ensure the procedure goes as smoothly as possible:
- Avoid Aggressive Treatments for 2-3 Months. Morpheus8 is not recommended if you have recently undergone CO2 laser treatments, deep chemical peels, or strong acid peels.
- Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning Products. Do not sunbathe or use tanning products (including self-tanners) for 3-4 weeks before the session to prevent hyperpigmentation.
- Stop Using Harsh Skincare Products. Discontinue the use of aggressive skincare products (retinoids, serums, hair removal creams, acids, whitening creams, steroids) 2-3 weeks before treatment.
- Refrain from Neurotoxin Injections. Avoid Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin for 2 weeks prior to the procedure. These can be administered again 2-3 days after the session.
- Pause Blood-Thinning Medications. Stop taking blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin) 3-5 days before the session to reduce the risk of bruising. Also, avoid alcohol, which has similar effects. Be sure to inform your doctor if you are on prescription blood thinners.
- Start Taking Arnica Supplements 3-5 days before each session to help minimize bruising.
- Purchase Ointments in Advance. Obtain a healing ointment, such as transparent aloe vera gel or a 1% hydrocortisone cream, to aid in post-procedure care.
- Arrive Early. Arrive at least one hour before your appointment. This allows the aesthetician to cleanse your skin and apply a numbing cream, ensuring it takes effect by the time the procedure starts.
Post-Procedure Recommendations
- Avoid Makeup for the First 24 Hours. To prevent irritation and support the healing process, do not apply makeup during this time. You can resume makeup application after 1-2 days, once your skin has started to recover.
- Avoid Harsh Skincare Products for at Least 7 Days. Steer clear of products with active ingredients (such as retinol or vitamin C) to allow your skin time to heal. Keep the treated area well-moisturized to speed up recovery.
- Limit Sun Exposure. For the first week after the session, avoid direct sunlight to minimize the risk of skin damage and hyperpigmentation.
How long does the result last after the procedure?
The effects of Morpheus8 last from 6 to 12 months, and even longer with proper skincare and a healthy lifestyle. The collagen stimulation process continues gradually after the session, with final results becoming visible 3 to 6 months post-treatment.
After your Morpheus8 treatment at Solea Brickell Spa, you’ll notice significant improvements within 2-3 days:
- Your skin will become firmer, smoother, lifted, and more radiant.
- Wrinkles, fine lines, and puffiness (on the forehead, under the eyes, around the nose and mouth, and chin area) will be reduced.
- Your complexion will be more even, pores will be minimized, and dark circles under the eyes will fade.
Morpheus8: Side Effects
- Temporary Side Effects. After thermal microneedling, you may experience redness, pinpoint bruising, and swelling in the treated area. These symptoms typically disappear within 4-5 days.
- Additional Care Required. Post-treatment care includes using moisturizers and soothing products suitable for sensitive skin.
- Discomfort During the Session. You may feel slight tingling or warmth where the micro-needles penetrate. To ensure comfort, a numbing gel is applied to the treatment area 30 minutes before the session. This helps minimize any discomfort.
- Contraindications. The procedure is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with pacemakers, weakened immune systems, or active skin conditions.

Morpheus8 vs. Microneedling
Both Microneedling and Morpheus8 enhance skin condition, but they differ in key ways:
Microneedling uses fine needles to create micro-injuries on the skin’s surface, stimulating natural healing and promoting collagen and elastin production. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and requires minimal downtime, making it a convenient option for busy individuals.
However, multiple sessions may be needed for lasting results, and the effects of microneedling are typically less pronounced, especially for addressing scars, acne marks, or skin tightening.
Morpheus8 is an advanced version of microneedling, targeting deeper layers of the skin. It delivers more noticeable and long-lasting results, which can last up to 3 years—significantly longer than traditional microneedling, which lasts up to 6 months. Despite its advantages, Morpheus8 requires more recovery time and is a more intensive treatment.
Morpheus8 vs. Fraxel
Fraxel and Morpheus8 are two distinct approaches to addressing skin concerns, with the choice between them depending on your specific needs.
Fraxel uses light-based technology to target different layers of the skin without damaging surrounding tissues. Its various wavelengths precisely treat issues like fine lines, acne, and pigmentation.
Morpheus8’s radiofrequency energy penetrates deeper into the skin, making it more effective for addressing more significant concerns such as acne scars, deep wrinkles, and skin laxity.
FAQ
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
The number of sessions depends on the client’s specific needs and goals. The exact number of visits is determined by the aesthetician on an individual basis.
Dermatologists generally recommend 1 to 3 sessions, with 4 to 6 weeks between each. This approach gradually improves skin condition.
Is There Any Downtime After a Non-Surgical Facelift?
Yes. Mild swelling, redness similar to a sunburn, and peeling as micro-wounds heal are normal reactions. These symptoms typically subside within 3 to 4 days.
What other procedures can Morpheus8 be combined with?
Morpheus8 can be combined with other skin rejuvenation procedures to enhance results. In Solea we recommend combining it with PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and follow up with Botox/ Sculptra or Fillers and microneedling. It is advisable to discuss your goals and expectations with the cosmetologist, who will recommend the most suitable procedures to combine with Morpheus8.
